I read this article on NDTV, and it doesn't indicate any caste angle in the incident. Out of the 59 individuals named in the FIR, the Kerala police have already arrested 44 and assured that the remaining will be apprehended soon. A Special Investigation Team has also been formed. Outrage typically arises when justice is denied to the victim, but in this case, the system is actively doing its job. Moreover, since this happened in Kerala, for Indian Media it's a national news only when something happens in hindi belt.
